“In the Year 2000, world leaders signed up to the Millennium Declaration. It’s an international agreement that aims to Halve world poverty by 2015 and end it altogether by 2025. From 17 to 19 Oct, people across the globe will Stand Up and Take Action Against Poverty. All you have to do is Stand Up and submit a picture of yourself holding a number, 0 to 9 to add to the countdown to 2015. Click to find out more.” Our company participated in the Stand Up event 17th Oct, 11.30 to 12.15pm : - Stood up for 10mins and read the Stand Up pledge
- Made presentations on poverty related issues in various parts of the world + showed StandUp’s videos
- Discussed other opportunities we as a company could do to support those living under the poverty line.
- Created a hyperlink on our corporate website http://www.scientecsearch.com to the Stand Up campaign site to help drive traffic and awareness.
- Emailed Stand Up info to about 500 of our corporate clients who are mostly in Human Resource and Head of companies.
- Bought One Singapore’s StandUp T-shirts for all our employees.
- Donated SGD10K to the One Singapore's MDG fund which will go to :
- provide 1000 glasses of milk every day for one month for children in India to offset some of the disastrous effects of malnutrition.
- fund food aid programme that provides approx 160 meals/day to homeless and jobless migrant workers in Singapore.
- provide 50 scholarships to children in Indonesia / China
- fund 12 years of education for two Nepali girls
- provide free medical care for 2600 Afghani children
- train midwives in Tibet
- buy and distribute 1000 mosquito nets in Burma
- Build toilets for a school in India
- plant 2500 trees
- fund a microfinance project to finance the purchase of 30 cows by women from the hill tracks of Bangladesh to help them support their families.
